The day was warm, the sky was clear, the sun was setting and the air tested distinctly of the welcomed peace that came with night. Twilight swam about overhead in the form of twinkling stars and streaks of orange, purples and brilliant yellows as the sun took its final breaths and swept slowly, silently, closer and closer to its bed beyond the horizon. The breeze was sweet, tossing the grasses as if petting them gently, and cooling the hot plains like ice in a glass.
And he was stuck with thorns in his butt.
Perched at the top of a cliff face, the young lion was clear in the contrasting orange light, his slate blue pelt almost reflecting the sparse sun rays like a mirror beneath a flashlight. Not that anyone would see him, way out here. No other was stupid enough, foolish enough, to wander where he had.
He was so gullible sometimes, it annoyed him. Two hyenas suggested he take this 'short cut' to a reported watering hole... and he had listened. Probably not the best decision of his life. Neither was the one he made to scamper through the poking brambles and climb the sheer cliff face to his current perch near the end of the gorge. Yet, there he sat in the dimming evening light, curled in on himself, cream-colored muzzle gently pulling free the dark colored barbs and his darkly tipped tail twitching.
Yeah... hyenas could be real funny...

Jira warily scoured the lands with tired chocolate brown eyes. Her fur that was usually a light brown gave off a dull sheen in the night. She was completly exhausted and ended up getting lost after chasing those two hyena rascals. She couldn't help but let a little grin flitter onto her lips. 'That was a nice chase,' she thought. She had chased them all the way down back to their own homeland with them screaming with their tails between their legs. It was a humiliating sight for them but the actions of the hyenas replayed in her head.
"Hey Lani, what should we do now.?" Hyena one asked Hyena 2. "Lets go find some more gullable lions to go chasing after a watering hole," Hyena 2 laughed.
Jira watched the two warily, her two eyes following them and her face was etched with pure anger to find that two rascals had awoken her from her sweet nap. 'Might as well teach them not to go laughing on other peoples sleeping time.' The thought put her on full auto drive. With a twist of her feathery tail, Jira crouched into a hunting position and moved through the savannahs with ease. No tmaking a single sound. "GRRRRRRRR" she growled loudly from right behind the two Hyena's. The Hyena's turned around rather seeing a large shadow instead of a lion and quickly fled into the dark.
Jira could not help to let out a loud tired laugh. It was hilarious that two Hyena's, who were masters of the night, could be discouraged so easily. Anyways what did they mean by trick another lion. Jira paused in her tracks to think that line through. Her tail flicked mindlesly and she went into deep thought. occ//font changed as it is hard to read

"Stupid thorn bushes... stupid hyenas...."
The young lion growled to himself lowly, his ears lowered thoroughly and his gaze narrowed in irritation, though his attention appeared to be on his very thorny behind. he'd wince every time one of the brambles was pulled free by his teeth, only to offer some sort of generally incoherent complaint afterward before moving on to the next one, the freed thorn being spit out into a nearby push carelessly.
Why would anyone with half a brain cell do something like this, honestly? Thorn bushes + lion are an obviously bad combination. But did he care? Oh no. He just trudged right on up like it was nothing... Originally, it had been nothing. The branches were low to the ground and easy to step over, but as the young male had made his way up to the cliff face, he found he was sorrily mistaken to attempt such a task.
Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, one might suppose, and goodness knows that a skinny, obviously malnourished kid like himself would need all the strength her could find simply lying around...
But thorn bushes? Really...

While Jira was thinking, she was doxing off until she heard something. It didn't entirely wake her up but it was enough for her to go searching for the source. Her eyes were now ablaze with anger.
Why was it everytime I fall asleep, or almost fall asleep, I am always interrupted' she thought in her head which was now sagging. 'Maybe it was prey,' the thought woke her up instantly and a pink tongue ran over her lips in anticapation. It has to be a big prey, the sound sounded pretty deep. Jira closed her eyes prac tically sleep walking imagining bringing the pride a dino.
Soon her noe caught a scent and her hopes instantly dropped to zero. It was another lion and by the smell of it not a part of her pride. Their was a tinge to the scent too. Jira scented the scent again but did not understand what the other smell was. It was dificult to deciefer.
Instead of caring whether or not this was a lion from her own clan she instantly followed the trail and it led her to a young male lion covered in thorns. She gave a small chuckle before calling out. "You need help!" Her call echoed around the place they were at but she hardly noticed.

The male lion immediately looked up when the lioness called out from the safety of the bushes nearby, his ears lowering and his gaze narrowed as if she was the reason he'd made such a foolish decision to trudge through the brambles. But the thorn clutched in his teeth had to be spit out before he could respond with his typical malice, his muzzle tensed but his teeth hidden, his tone of voice sharp but quiet, almost soft, as if he was unsure whether or not he was really angry with the strange feline.
"What are you talking about? It's a new fashion statement."
The second half of his statement was drenched in sarcasm like a warthog is in stench, and he turned just as he finished it to resume his tricky, de-thorning task in earnest.

Jira stared at him, her smile never faded after his reply. Another chuckle escaped her and her eyes resumed looking at him with much interest and curiosity. The tiredness that had usually persisted her was erased and the feeling of siffness has left her. Jira started to walk towards him examining his predicament. Then it hit her.
"You aren't the one those hyena's played a prank on were you?" she blurted out, maybe a bit too loud. Now she was standing next to him amusement hone in her chocolate brown eyes and her tail twitched. This was obviously the first time she encountered a lion that could actually be fooled by hyenas. She has never truly met a good hyena so it made her amused to find that this guy actually took their word.
"What was it again... Oh right, they made you go on a wild goose chase for a waterfall, isn't that right." It was more a statement than a question.
