Being a rather prominent and usually very helpful artist, I have long been involved in the production and distribution of what I call Character Templates. Essentially, they are nothing more than sketches I've botched or given up on, taking a few moments to ink them digitally and then post the useless things for other people to use. I've found they allow for more creativity and uniqueness in character design than simply doing a Google search for a photograph and are particularly beneficial to role-plays based off of cartoon shows or movies that have a particular art style to them, such as the animated Ginga series or the more well-known Lion King, where realistic photographs don't really seem to fit. They allow for true and total customization of a character, to truly make it your own and not simply borrow the appearance of an animal out in real life. And they can be used by anybody, for anybody.
Simply right click on the template of your choice and hit "Save As" to save it onto your computer. Then, open it again in any art program you may have available. Or, if you don't have one, simply print out the image and color it with colored pencils, markers, or whatever. But Microsoft Paint, the very art program almost all pc's come with when purchased, should be enough. Using the paintbrush and the fill bucket, you may fill in the lines however you wish. Add markings, accessories, scars, what have you. Make it your own and then upload it to Photobucket, Tiny Pic or even Imageshack to show everyone what you've managed to do.
You may use the finished products you create for anything you'd like. Signatures, profile pictures, banners and images on other sites. However, any time you post a colored template of mine, you must link back either to this page or to my DA Account and credit for the line art must be given to me (Avyris). Blank Templates are NOT to be posted anywhere else without my direct consent.
I do hope this is alright with the admin. I'd hate for my first thread to be a bad one. ^^;
